April 10th, 12am, and Apple Watch preorders opened up. For about 37 seconds, I sat there, with my shopping cart full and my mouse cursor over the Submit button, trying to decide. It is not cheap, it's a 1.0 product, and I don't wear a watch... what am I doing buying this thing? On the other hand, I missed the iPhone bandwagon by 2 generations, and I've owned just about every Apple device since, from good and bad. My moment of hesitation was over - click.

![]() Day 1 with Apple Watch - full review coming later, but so far, pretty useful. Took it off the charger at 9am, and used it until 5PM, at which time it was at 77% battery remaining. I used to check time, calendars, weather, stock, to send a few messages via Siri and even took a call on the speakerphone. Looked like a douche bag surely, talking to my wrist, like Dick Tracy, but drastically reduced the number of times I needed to pull my phone out, which was the main reason. So far so good! Setting up Apple Pay, though... Thus far, having to place a phone call to Barclay's to enable my card for Apple Pay kind of sucks. Call in, enter a bunch of account data, get to live person, get transferred... I like the security aspect, but none of this was anything that couldn't be handled with the proper forms. Especially seeing as how the same card was used to purchase the watch in the first place. tongue emoticon ![]() Now, pick up the phone and talk to a live person! Yikes! 5 minutes later and done but somewhat un-Apple like in execution... I guess it's the fault of the credit card companies for not having more intelligence built in and for paranoia around new technologies. One definitely gets the feeling the credit card companies are being dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. ![]() And, activated. Now, to buy something. Not the worst thing in the world, but definitely a waste of time and effort. Now, to find something to buy!
![]() It's Apple Watch time! They haven't announced the pricing yet, but I'm guessing $349 / $749 / $7500. <=-- will update once the pricing actually goes live. We'll see what happens. Faces will open up a whole new economy. I really like the Mickey face with the tapping foot second hand. It's really cool looking. I haven't worn a watch for awhile, but the Apple Watch does look pretty cool. I'm excited about it and will probably get one. Watchkit SDK has been out since Nov, so hopefully there are some cool Apps on release. Edit - The Apple Watch will start shipping on April 24 in many countries. Preorders begin April 10. The Apple Watch Sport (made with aluminum) starts at $349, the Apple Watch (steel) ranges from $549 to $1,049, and the Apple Watch Edition (gold) starts at $10,000.
